They're not that short - although certainly not Tolkien in length. All part of a series featuring the same characters.
*shudder* It would take me years to even get up to the current release, which of course would be several years out of date by the time I got there. (Of course, I say that, and then I end up doing marathon series-readings over summer vacations...)
You never know, the Wheel of Time series will be at 22 books soon! ;)
Yet another reason why I never even started that one! Then again, I can't really talk, can I, given that I not only read Katharine Kerr, but am also an avid devotee of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series (uh...thirteen books now? With no end in sight?) and a relatively recent convert to David Weber's Honor Harrington series (ten-ish now, I think). But at least those aren't all 800-page tomes like Jordan's stuff. Meep.
