I suppose a case could be made that there wasn't enough space between the drill and the surrounding dirt/rock for the magma to flow in once the front part of the drill got past.

But wouldn't the back of the drill been burning off? And what about when they went to go back up?

We're due to get a lot of snow, 6+ inches, on Tusday. Might be a good day to work from home. Hope you don't have to slug through the snow tomorrow.
