Did everyone (in the US) change your clocks back last night? I woke up at what I thought was eleven o'clock, but was quickly informed by my roomie that it was really only ten. Nice. Unfortunately, since I went to bed at about 1:30 EDT, I got over nine hours of sleep, and am thus groggy. I don't feel bad when I get less sleep than necessary, just when I get more. How's that for annoying?

Anyway, last night was the inagural ball. It was really, really nice. I'm tempted to describe it as a less-drunk version of Phling, but it was really like an adult party that they'd graciously invited the kids to, and everyone was pretty much on their best behaviour. It was so much more classy and less drunken than Phling was. I liked it a lot. I think I need to go to more old-people parties. ;) The main band (Afro-Cuban thing; they played mostly salsas, the ocassional cha-cha, and I think a samba while I was there) was good, and the secondary bands in the other big room of Peirce were even better, IMO. The first one played a bunch of foxtrots (woo! Smooth and Standard!), the second was a jazz band, and the third was...well, it was Milo, but they actually weren't that bad. And there were really, really incredible fruit tarts. Yum. I actually gave a samba and salsa lesson for about an hour before the ball itself to Meg, Toskhan, Julia, and another guy whose name I didn't catch. Got to lead a lot there. Actually, got to lead a lot at the ball...Allyson and I danced rather a lot together. I think the only time I followed at all was during a foxtrot with Britain. But in the shoes I was wearing, you can't really do a lot anyway, so... *shrug* And seeing professors, trustees, and the president all dancing was fabulous. Phling needs to be way, way more like that.

And now I really ought to work... *sigh*
