From weather.com: "Meanwhile, Yukon reinforcements, accompanied by wind and snow, will punch into the northern Plains tomorrow with high temperatures cowering in the subzero basement over much of northeastern Montana and North Dakota."

Who writes this stuff? And how can I get in on it? I could totally spend all day writing stuff like this.

Speaking of amusing words, a quote from the fantastic lecture (seriously, one of the best I've had here) on the Enlightenment from Maguire this afternoon:

"The [autocratic] Russian tsars made the French kings look like a folk rock band." (And of course, this band would be called The Louis, with the French pronunciation. I mean, it's obvious.)

We almost had a snow day today. There was an e-mail saying there were no classes at 7:30, and then half an hour later another one saying that classes would run as scheduled. Grrrr. Dude, the bookstore is closed. The bookstore only closes for the apocalypse. Why did we have class? The streets were barely plowed. I'm actually glad we had French history (see above section re: fantastic lecture), but I could've lived without Faust legends.
