The American Girl dolls, or at least the "buy a doll that looks like you!" ones, now come with doll laptops.

Oh, my.

I never had an AG doll of any era (although Samantha was cooooooool...actually, the detail on all the dolls' furniture and outfits was cool...probably why everything cost so much), but the ones I did have were, like, "Sleepytime Baby Doll's eyes close when you lay her down!" and "Dress Up Baby With Fifty Zillion Outfits All Sold Separately That We Will Advertise Incessantly Until You Beg Your Parents for Every Last One of Them!" There were definitely no laptops. I think Barbie might have had a boombox, but that was about as high-tech as it got.

I feel old now. I'm sure I'll feel even older on Thursday.

You can always tell I'm avoiding work when the amount of quizzes posted here goes way up.

I hate it when a plot bunny comes and plops itself down before me just as I'm trying to get stuff done. *points at music field* I sosososo want to do a post-Heroes Sam-fic with that in mind.

Anyway. I'm reading Flaubert's A Sentimental Education for Modern France, and I'm snickering away 'cause Frederic, the main character, is basically Jules from The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne. Seriously--kid from the provinces who comes to Paris to get an education in law at the behest of his mother, even if all he wants to do is write and paint. He even sees a pretty girl and gets all tongue-tied like Jules did with Rebecca occassionally. It's quite amusing.

Also amusing is my dialogue piece. I scrapped the first two I worked on and eventually settled on reviving my "witch takes Hansel and Gretel to court for damages to house and health" story. The judge presiding is the Honorable M. Goose, the witch's lawyer is the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel's lawyer is Goldilocks, etc. If you've ever read that book where the wolf from The Three Little Pigs tells his side of the story, or The Frog Prince Continued (what happens after the marriage), I'm sort of aiming for that kind of thing. I think I'll just have to turn in the first part, though, 'cause it's gonna be way over seven pages.

And! Jon loaned me his Farscape Season 2 boxset for the night! Gonna show CDM to Meg and Ellen, and possibly another ep...TWWW is fabulous, but might require too much explanation. We'll see if we even have time to watch another episode, though.
