This year's Hugo nominees are up here. There are links to full texts of all the novellas, novelettes, and short stories thanks to the various magazines they were published in. Bujold fans, LMB is up for best novel with Paladin of Souls. Both Connie Willis and Catherine Asaro are in the novella category, and Neil Gaiman is nominated for best short story. I've only read Willis' as of yet; was somewhat hokier than I've come to expect of her, but still good. And the sidebar said that another novel in the Doomsday Book/To Say Nothing of the Dog universe is probably coming out in early 2005, so yay!

ROTK, Finding Nemo, and POTC are all up for long form dramatic presentation, whcih makes me happy and sad at the same time. Love them all! For short form drama, there are two Firefly eps, a Buffy ep, a Smallville ep, and "Gollum's Acceptance Speech at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards." Hee.

I love the Hugos. They're so good at helping me plan my summer reading list. :)

In other news, the Brassworks Band is an outfit that does nineteenth-century dance music--Viennese Waltzes, Polkas, Mazurkas, Marches, etc. They have a CD out called "The Congress of Vienna." The history geek in me is giggling hysterically at this, possibly because I remember memorizing every single bit of information theree was on that thing for AP Euro.

And finally, to relate to the subject of this entry, I somehow managed to go on an I Dream of Jeannie fanfic bender today. Dude, I have no idea. I was looking at fanfiction.net (always a bad idea, I know) for what few stories without "Ths iz a rlly kewl fic 4 u plz rr omg!!!!" in the summary were in existence that I hadn't seen before, and I clicked on that category, and it all went downhill from there. To be fair, it wasn't just fic--my Googling for more fic (yes, I am insane) turned up all kinds of fun sites--but egads. My brain hurts. Mention of any sitcom that populates Nick at Nite and/or TVLand takes me straight back to fifth and sixth grades, which was when I watched them all--all, from Jeannie to Bewitched to Dick Van Dyke to Gilligan's Island to Mary Tyler Moore and god knows what else--and I've been trying to forget those years existed since before I even started them.

*vanishes in a poof of smoke, leaving everyone with the Jeannie theme song stuck in their heads*

Went shopping today 'cause I have one pair of shorts that actually fits anymore. Again, why can't pants and shorts be sold by waist, hip, and inseam measurements? Why, why, why? It would make my life so much easier. Although at least one of the new pairs I got are Lees, and they tend to fit me better than other brands.
