Continental sprawl

Oh, Wikipedia, how you encourage me to stay up long into the wee hours of the morning.
I somehow made it from an article on Pangea (the supercontinent) to one on exurbs (the newest, furthest out generation of suburbs). I feel like there's a joke to be made here about continental drift and urban sprawl, but it's three in the morning and I'm just not up to it right now.
