Oct. 11th, 2007 08:37 pmI was noodling around on Wikipedia tonight, and ran across the entry for my birthday. Huh. Lots of interesting things happened over the years on that date. The first WTC bombing, of course, which I remember, but also things like the Bank of England issuing the first pound note (1797), Napoleon escaping from Elba (1815), the second French Republic being proclaimed (1848), Acts of Congress creating the Mt. McKinley, Grand Canyon and Grand Tetons National Parks being signed (1917, 1919 and 1929, respectively), and Earth Day being proclaimed a holiday by the UN (1971).
Apparently February 26th is a good day for signing parks into existence and practicing French politics.
