icepixie: ([B5] Ivanova Garibaldi Close)
I got sunburnt on the back of my neck today. I was outside for about twenty minutes. ARGH.

I found the most awesome thing on YouTube yesterday. Apparently the 2000 Tony-winning musical was something called Contact, and it involves tons and tons of swing (and quickstep and foxtrot) dancing! Someone put up parts of Act 3 here: Put a Lid on It, Beyond the Sea, Simply Irresistible, Do You Wanna Dance?, Sing, Sing, Sing. I'm going to assume that a vital part of the story is missing, because the ending comes out of nowhere, but the dancing is incredible.

I finally got to my first fourth-season disc of B5 today.

Whyyyyyy can't I make myself write my remaining paaaaaaaapers?

*sigh*

None of y'all would want to loan me some motivation, would you? I have sixteen pages left at a minimum. All must be done by the 29th. (And more technically, I need a rough draft of the half-finished paper by the 22nd and enough material on the other one to present for five minutes by the 23rd.)

At least classes are over for me on Thursday. Small comfort, but I'll take it.

Am working. Unhappily, but am working. Anyway, I was going back through the articles I'm using for my Gissing paper, and here's a choice quote:

It remains difficult, however, to understand why so many critics--such as Lloyd Fernando, Jacob Korg, and John Sloan--read Rhoda's final decision as defeat. The conclusion reached by these three critics can only be explained by imagining that they themselves persist in seeing an unmarried woman as useless and lacking.

OUCH! Talk about unprofessional. I can't imagine what editor could possibly have let this slip by. I certainly wouldn't have.
