Speaking of things to read, here is an anecdote for you. My undergrad comps reading list included a few things by Alexander Pope on it, so I bought a book of his poetry. Once my comps were over, I sold the volume to a local used bookstore figuring I would never need it again. Naturally, three years later, my grad school oral exam reading list includes the same pieces by Pope, so the other day, when I was in that bookstore once more, I went looking for a copy. What did I find but that very same book, with all my old margin notes. Five bucks later, it is mine once more.
I feel like that's a metaphor for something. Perhaps my life.
