icepixie: ([Other] Book)
Oh, Morris Dickstein. Your name may be incomparable, but unfortunately, Dancing in the Dark: A Cultural History of the Great Depression is not. If you can't get the sequence of events in more than one movie I know right, how am I supposed to trust you when you write about novels, movies, and nonfiction I haven't read or seen? Also, argh, dull dull dull.

Oh, well. On to the next of the many books that came in to the library for me yesterday. Of course, all the rest of the ones I requested came in today. *sigh* At least I have plenty of other tomes on thirties culture and everyday life to occupy my attention. (I need the research for a...project. ...Okay, it's the script for a movie musical. Said project will probably never leave my computer, but it will be historically accurate, by god.)

Perhaps due to reading ALL THE THINGS, I've fallen behind on a number of other projects. I haven't watched this week's episode for [livejournal.com profile] nx_rewatch, even though it's a good one, and I'm nowhere near where I want to be on [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking fills. I have an overly-ambitious list of potential things I could write that I was hoping to do at least half of, and now I think it might be more like a quarter, if I'm lucky.

Also, today half the lights on my Christmas tree died. It's a pre-lit tree, so basically this means I need a new tree. BAH HUMBUG.
