Skating stuff
Aug. 17th, 2013 11:38 amAs I suspected, outside three turns were next on my instructor's agenda. Ahahahaha OH GOD.
We aren't skilled enough yet to actually do them, but we did prep work of one-foot glides on outside edges around the half-circles she drew, then more two-foot turns on the same circles. My initial glides were sad sad sad, but by the end of class I could make it about three-quarters of the way around the semicircle, and of course the moment she left I made it all the way to the end. Whatever, as long as I can do it.
I've gotten into the weird position where I can do the advanced style of back crossovers going CW, and the basic style going CCW, but not the other way around. (For questionable values of "can do," anyway. Both of them are more like "cross, grind to a halt, extract feet from crossed position, do it again" than the nice fluid things I want them to be, but surely I'll get there eventually.) But it's more than I could do earlier this week, so I'll take it.
