Last Alpha class
Aug. 31st, 2013 12:27 pmLunges happened today.
My knees didn't hate them as much as I figured they were going to. My thighs hated them more than I thought they would. Ultimately, right now I can either half-ass it with my boot barely on the ice and still be able to get back up without assistance, or I can go all the way and either crash onto my stomach or get stuck and need to push myself up with my hands. Perhaps this is something I should work on this week.
We also played with spirals. I have the flexibility to hit about 110 degrees, but right now my balance tops out at 70ish. I have dreeeeeeams, though.
For funsies, we made an attempt at real three turns, and each of us chickened out and didn't quite manage it. Oh, well; it's a Gamma skill anyway, so I'm not too worried. I would like to get the backwards one-foot edge part of it to go in a wider arc, though. If I ride the edge all the way around, I turn in a tight little circle and effectively manage a sort of poor man's loop, which, while exciting, is not really what I'm after.
Anyway, I passed Alpha (no badge this time, though, awwww), so now it's on to Beta! Woo!
