I'm still wondering why people have drifted to the portmanteau thing for pairings. For some it's amusing -- Shweir still makes me smile a bit because I'm twelve -- but others it just sounds stupid. I guess I can kind of understand it as a switch from just letters for fandoms where there are just waaaay too many characters whose names start with the same letter like Smallville, but it's not necessary for a lot of things.
It would be interesting to catalogue which fandoms use which listings, though. I've only seen portmanteaus for Smallville, Buffy and Atlantis. I doubt you'd see listings for "Sack" or "Dank" in SG-1. ;)
(I do think ff.net may take out / in summaries, though. I know many will strip \. I wonder if Thing1//Thing2 wuld show up as Thing1/Thing2.)
Not that slash key. Although having a key for it would be amusing.
