You thought the first one was disturbing? I actually thought it seemed like a more modern, more colorful LOTR.
I like your description! That fits well. But, yeah, I found it really desturbing. I know he's putting it in fantasy terms, but he's still talking about the torture of children. I love the story and the world (armoured bears! yay!) he's created, it's colorful and you don't know who is good or who is bad all the time. I finished it because I wanted to see how it ended, but, yeah, odd.
