Time wastage
May. 16th, 2005 04:28 pmI love omnibus editions of books, especially when I've read the first one or two. I can start at page 264 or whatever and read very little, but then when I look at where my bookmarked is placed, it looks like I've accomplished a whole lot even when I totally haven't. Especially as this book is completely not for school, and I have tow essays due June 1 staring me in the face...
This particular omnibus is Bill Bryson's The Complete Notes, which is not so much complete as it is a sampler, specifically of Notes from a Small Island and Notes from a Big Country. I read the former before I came over here, but hadn't run into the second. And now, a few chapters in, I'm sorta-kinda ready to go home. Maybe not right this moment, but June 22 will be welcome. I'm tired of being a foreigner. (I'd also like to avoid these essays, but you know. Details, details...)
