Whedon thing? Could be. I got into Firefly/Serenity *because* of the Whedonness myself...I really do love his dialogue style(s). (They're somewhat the same throughout his shows, though obviously you've got the western twist in Firefly.) I find them Shakespearean, lyrical in odd ways...and just plain hysterical. But to each their own!

And by subtle, I was thinking mostly of "I'm...not sure." "Good answer...", and the fact that we *didn't* get smoochies or sudden declarations of "everything we've just been through made me realize I always DID love you!", which I think we would have in the hands of many lesser writer/directors. That's anvilicious to me. So...yeah, I'll stick by my 'subtle' judgement, for my own self at least. ;?P
