Rainy Saturday
Oct. 22nd, 2005 04:34 pmWent down to the BFEC today to see the results of the photo contest. Even with decent prints, I so never would have had a chance. There were so nice pictures there. There was one--and this didn't even win anything--of a praying mantis that was so close-up you could see the black speck in the middle of its eyes. The winners were all macro shots in the same vein--one of a spider on a pot, one gorgeous one of a monarch butterfly on a leaf, and one of some baby birds in a nest. Impressive stuff. Someone took my stalks of grain idea and did it better. Some of the kids' photos were better than mine.
So...green with envy, but pretty photos to look at. A nice walk down and back, too. It's been raining and ugly for the past couple days, but it had just stopped drizzling before I left, leaving a fine coating of mist all over the area. The trees have reached the height of their color, and they were just lovely when put into soft focus by the mist. As far as I could see up and down the river, they were being reflected in the water. It's easy to forget, living at a college on the top of a hill, that there's a river valley literally a ten-minute walk away, and decent-sized hills all around it that aren't at all what I used to think of when I thought, "Ohio." (It used to be corn, flat, and more corn, which is true in some parts of the state...)
Now. Paper. Yes.
