Deepest apologies to my flatmates, who I'm surely annoying through our paper-thin walls. I did brave the rain to get some Robitussin from the bookstore this morning, though, so hopefully that'll help. I also got sugar at the market, and then at our belated Christmas gift exchange, Ellen kindly provided me with an awesome sugar bowl. Hee!

Tuesdays are my Day From Hell this semester. I have two 1.5 hour classes back to back from 1 to 4, and then a three-hour seminar at 7. With a ballroom officers' meeting in the middle, at dinner. Ow. Although I think it's better than three T/Th classes. It's only once a week, and the longer break in between each section of class is nice.

I'm hoping that Mongolian Empire class, which starts tomorrow, is either really, really amazing or truly awful, 'cause after one meeting of the other class I'm contemplating dropping, I'm still not sure which to get rid of. The English class strikes me as one that will either be stupendously awesome or a complete train wreck, with no middle ground whatsoever. Given that there are going to be presentations (and after last year, you should all know my opinion on student presentations in an English class), I'm not sure how willing I am to bank on awesomeness. Although I have an essay topic in mind already for one of them--which came to me because I finally got around to watching my DVD of Anna and the King last night--which I won't get to do if I drop the class. Hmm.

Practice and Theory, on the other hand, is going to be so fantastic. It's going to be a history class using the methodology of literary criticism, sort of. Really interesting stuff, I think.

Advanced Fiction will be even better than Intro, I think. We're diving right in to the 10-20 pages every three weeks cycle instead of starting with prompts and 5-7 pages a week, which is nice. I have lots of little beginnings of things littered around my hard drive; maybe I'll actually complete some of them this semester.

I...don't really want to read for class at the moment. Definitely having a harder time getting back into the swing of academia this semester, for some reason. I think that reason might be named "Comps." Now that it's less than a month until the written part is due, everything is sort of subconsciously taking a backseat to it. Which totally explains why I've been reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell every free moment today. Shut up. It could totally count for Victorian World. Except that it's really Regency. And was published last year. *looks shifty*

Whoever's teaching Intro Music History this semester changed the book for the first time in half a decade. This is the second time I've been screwed over like that; it happened with my Economics textbook as well between freshman and sophomore years. GRRRRRRR. Now I'm out $30 I'd hoped to get back. *hate*
