Bad Wolf is a joy. Boomtown - I think that one also suffers from the NE problem in that there are too many plot threads in it.

Bad Wolf may in fact be my favorite episode. The big reveal of the fleet of Daleks gets me every time. I haven't watched Boomtown in a while; I don't remember an excess of plot threads, but I may have just been so amused by the Doctor and Margaret/Blon's interaction that I *handwave*d them all away.

As you say, he's fabby with character stuff. I just think that next to episodes like the Empty Child and TDD, his ones flag a bit.

Oh, definitely. Those two get better every time I watch them.
