Yeah, when she said that I kinda paused, because wow. That is a long time. But I think I can understand that she felt no one/thing else could live up to him and that life.

Yeah, it could have been a lie. But I really, really would rather not think it was a lie, even if he did it to make her feel better. Because that would be leading her on and an extremely crappy thing to do.
I'd definitely prefer it not to be a lie as well, but I kind of think if it was, it was as much to himself as to her anyway. But I like the ambiguity, anyway.
Naturally they're not going to be together forever and ever, which he hammered home after that, but I really think she'll be the one to walk...or die. (meeep.)
I wonder if she thinks she will spend the rest of her life with him, even if she knows it'll only be a tiny span of years out of his life. Presumably she won't, because that's how it works, but I wonder what each of them thinks about the situation.
