My dad didn't mind it so much when he had to do it. It does sound sort of interesting, if you don't get a horrible case that goes on for months and months, anyway.

The Davidson County Court obligates you to show up until you're picked for a trial or until you've come for three days and not been picked, whichever comes first. The lawyers from each side of a case select a big group of people from the even bigger pool of that week's potential jurors, and upon doing a group interview, they can reject anyone they want for any reason they want. Then you're back where you started. I'm not sure how often people get passed over all together here, though.
