Yeah, we also don't have a mandatory intro class; there's English 101, but anyone with AP credit (aka took it in high school), like me, can get out of it, and we didn't touch on literary theory in HS at all. I'm not even totally sure that all the 101 classes teach theory directly.

I ended up checking out a book on the subject once and skimming it; some bits stuck, while others went over my head.
