Peter tells her he loves her. Then, for real, ten seconds later, Assumpta gets electrocuted in a freak fuse box accident.

That right there that's classic daytime. Make you happy then screw you the next second.

After Assumpta's not-in-her-right-mind marriage to an old boyfriend (because she "thought it would drive [Peter] out of [her] mind," since he'd gone on retreat to get her out of his mind), she quickly ends up separated from him.

Also classic daytime, marry someone you don't love to get over the person you really do love.
