RTD: Alien planets are "too expensive."

And a Slitheen ship crashing into Big Ben isn't? Or a massive CGI wereworlf? Or the sun blowing up and incinerating the Earth? I'm sorry, that doesn't fly. Try again.

P.S. Avast, me hearties! *walks around with peg leg and parrot*

I like him, but sometimes he's just...too over the top. Or something. He was better in Casanova.

Yeah, there was a definite lack of foaming rabidity in Blackpool, as well. Let's blame it all on RTD!

Nah, that one has The Magic Mindmeld of Luuuurve working against it.

Aww, but every episode needs extremely lazy/hurried writing that hinges entirely on the actors' ability to be pretty while reciting it! ...right?

My very favorite is School Reunion, because of my unabashed Sarah Jane love.

Heh, so you prefer the "OMG!!1! Kids typing at computers!! And still typing at computers!! They're typing really fast!! And greenly!! And typing some more!! This is so tense!! Just like the last scene where we used this exact same footage!!" style episode, huh? : D Other than that, it was fun, though. Tin dogs!

Of course, there's the Christmas special, too.

Mmm, Christmas specials...

I'm still not sure the balance of alien and Earthly stories is so different. The 4th Doctor probably was on alien worlds more, but the 5th Doctor was on Earth a lot. The 7th Doctor was a heck of a lot, especially in his final season. And I think the "1970s or 80s England" comment is key...the new series does a fair number of Earth stories that aren't the present decade, and aren't always in England, either...

Lost: Yeah...it's got monsters in the jungle and strange electromagnetic fields and hints of telepathy and possibly telekinesis...it's subtle, sort of Twilight Zone, but I'd definitely call it scifi.
