Why yes, yes, I did make those cookies from scratch. The slice and bake ones tend to taste like cardboard, IMO, and they only get rid of the mixing-and-forming-little-balls half of the work. You still have the scraping-them-off-the-cookie-pan part to deal with.

And besides, we had a bag of chocolate chips sitting around.
