Electrical pun!

icepixieOne nice thing about work is that today it allowed me to make the following pun: "The circuit breaker section in this package really tripped me up."
(And it did, too. That one had all kinds of little pieces I'd never seen before and which would not pull up in the online digest, and...urg. Evil little section.)
This was the same package that had a panelboard schedule* with approximately fifty million little drawings, all of which came in out of order, and which took roughly forever to straighten out. I grow to dislike panelboards, yes, I do... (Think of it this way: imagine importing a 30-page story which you've never read into Acrobat, having the pages come in all out of order, and then having to use a tiny little page number in the corner to put them in order. Only it's not a number, it's something like 5KL1-Sect 4, and the next one is 3MR2-Sect 3, and you've got to put them in order according to a schedule from earlier in the package and not, like, alphabetically or anything rational, and do you see why it makes me a bit crazy? Although on the other hand there is feeling of vindication after I've sorted all the little buggers out, and that's kind of nice at 9:30 in the morning...)

This is a deceptively simple, yet astoundingly addictive little game. I don't know whether to hate you or love you, Peter.

I decided that I had to have the rumba RayK and Stell dance to at the end of "Strange Bedfellows," and it's actually on iTunes! Woo! It's so cool. *wiggles a bit* *has unfortuantely forgotten just about every cool move she ever learned for American Rumba*
* Panelboard = essentially the breaker box you have in your home, only bigger. Sometimes much bigger.

I have plenty of time to make electrical puns when I write panelboard schedules at work.

(Although if DWF Batch Print, Acrobat Distiller, and Acrobat itself would all just keep the damn things in order, I'd be just as happy...)

Probably not. I just do simple schedules for houses/businesses and mostly I just have to match circuits with outlets/light fixtures on my floor plans, then transfer that into a schedule. I don't go into the detailed stuff that you probably have to look at, so the most complicated naming system I deal with is along the lines of "RP-1/42."
That said, my panels tend to suck because I'm an architect, not an engineer.
(Although if DWF Batch Print, Acrobat Distiller, and Acrobat itself would all just keep the damn things in order, I'd be just as happy...)

*pouts* Damn. Yes, we do a lot of schools, hospitals, amusement parks, etc. Mostly the bigger end of things. The panelboard schedule naming systems make NO SENSE.

Heh. It's probably engineers who are making these.
I have personal issues with all three of those programs.
One of them (or possibly all three of them) makes it so that every. single. page. comes in backwards. Like, say I want it to go A, B, C, it comes in C, B, A. Then about a sixth of them just go somewhere completely random. Oh, and it usually likes to not import a few as well, so I have to go back and do them separately. (I did a package today that had 76 pbs in it. It took at least an hour to sort them out. And when I was done, and complaining, the person training me and the other new guy said, "That's nothing. I just did one with 300 in it." And then I nearly cried.)
I swear, Acrobat(/Distiller/DWF Print) is mocking me.
Acrobat has been nice to me for several months, though, so I'm not complaining. About that one.
Maybe it'll start liking me eventually, after I've used it for a while...?
