So the idea behind this episode was one part Grapes of Wrath, one part Serenity, one part OMG STOP WITH THE UNREQUITED LOVE THING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AAHHHHHH, two parts complete nonsense, and one part retread of Rose episodes? Ooookay. I guess I can get behind most of that. It didn't make much sense, half the time, but it was all right, I suppose, if one ignores Martha mooning over the Doctor and Rusty consciously stealing lines of dialogue from his early Rose eps. *rolls eyes*
The traffic jam idea was sort of nifty...it seemed very much like something that would've been written in the late 50s or so (I'm currently reading some Bradbury short stories, so I'm kind in that mindset at the moment). The radio hymns thing was a nice touch--very GoW, and I kind of expected Tommy Dolan to come on with, "And now it's time for Brother Justin's Church of the Aaaaair!", but whatever.
David Tennant showed he still knows how to act in that last scene with Martha, when he's talking about Gallifrey. Could we have more of this than the shouting? I am so tired of the shouting.
Still enjoying the hell out of Martha, with her smarts and her taking charge and her being really cool. (Oh, and saving everyone's life based on something she saw in a movie. Heh.)
Please tell me I was not the only one expecting numerous flying car crashes when everyone made for the roof. Because that radar thing they had didn't look too advanced, and few of them seemed to be paying much attention to the road. Er, air. Whatever.
Face of Bo: "You are not alooooone."
Audience: "We knoooow."
Next week: Oh, dear. More space pigs. Ack.
And really awful 1930s New York gangster accents. I may have to cover my ears for this one.
Oh, and Daleks. How did I know they would show up again this season?

Date: 2007-04-16 03:14 am (UTC)I did like that. Old skool sci-fi feel for the win!

MAAAARTHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
I don't think that was *supposed* to crack me up... And his immediate shouty-ness as soon as she was kidnapped? Eh. Not especially fitting. Unless it was a sort of "Oh crap, I lost ANOTHER ONE and I just got her and now I'm gonna have to explain 'bigger on the inside' AGAIN and that's getting SO OLD!" Poor Doctor and his high turnover rate.

Yes. Nothing prepares you for TARDIS-ing like pop culture sci-fi literacy. LOVE her approach. She's a keeper.

Ummm yeah. "Please, everyone run straight toward the exits at the same time! Preferably with your eyes shut and yelling!" And... was it just me, or was there a whole big chunk of open space between the, um, giant crabs (wtf???) and the next highest lane of traffic? I was all, "Guys, just... fly twenty feet higher? In that hundred feet of space you have?" That, and I was getting Budong vibes....

GIANT LETDOWN. Boooooo.

Just watching the trailer pained me. Owwwww. And they mock our attempts at British accents. Well, rightfully so, but... no room to talk, dude.
Oh, and Daleks. How did I know they would show up again this season?
How did you know that David Tennant would show up again this season??? What a shocker!
