Until the past couple days, the heat index hasn't been too bad; today it was 110, I think, but for most of the month it was so dry that it hovered at or a little below the actual temperature.
I actually don't mind the heat as much as I mind the lack of rain. Everything is dead, dead, dead--at least, everything that didn't die off in that freak April freeze we had earlier. It's basically been nearly drought conditions since the end of May, which doesn't help either.
You know, if we could just somehow split the continent in half down the middle and put some ocean between the halves, the interior would have much less severe weather mood swings. I think we should look into breaking it off along the Mississippi. ;)
