Although wow, the quality of the video certainly does indicate that the DVD makers put about $12 of effort into each these things...
I think that's why I'd heard it was better to spend more money and get the Canadian discs, which are apparently much better and have features, etc. My cheaper side ultimately won out, though!
(And if you think that video transfer is bad, you should get your friends together for Bad Movie Night and watch Dealers with Paul McGann, which is hands-down the worst-quality DVD I've ever seen. It literally looks like someone did a quick/dirty copy from an old VHS tape. And for the record, watching with friends in the MST3K style is the only way to enjoy watching that movie--unless you turn the sound off so you don't have to hear the awful script!)
