icepixie: ([Pushing Daisies] Ned with strawberry)

I loved the twins and everything with Ned's past, but I'm starting to look at the crimes on this show the same way I looked at the romances on Cupid--plot devices I don't really care about except as a function for the characters to interact, and often taking time away from the ongoing plots concerning the main characters that I actually care about. This...is unfortunate. What PD does have going for it is the sheer wackiness and visual interest in the detective stories, which at least makes them interesting on the surface. They do a very nice job relating the case to the ongoing plots (the daughter not knowing her father to Ned's not knowing his; last week's guests needing to be comfortable with themselves before they could be friend with others to Ned and Chuck needing the same thing), but I wouldn't mind the odd case-less episode here and there so we can focus on everyone's family issues or whatever's going on currently.

- Okay, so who else thought for a moment or two that Olive was perving on Ned's father? Yeah. Eek.

- "Beef balls and curried cuttlefish"? Ew.

- Emerson has billboards? Hee!

- Food poker! Mmm, tasty.

- I think the writers are just trying to slip something more adult past the censors every week...

- The clothing this week is especially lurid. My computer screen was having trouble with some of the reds and oranges Chuck and Olive were wearing.

- "They have the same eyebrows!" AND THEY DO! HEE! But can they use them as expressively as Lee Pace?

- "Mercutio and Ribald." Hee. (I do think Rawlston is a terribly odd name.)

- Are Chuck and Olive going undercover in every episode this season or something?

- ...OMG. Emerson and Ned are never allowed to go undercover again. (Although that was hilarious.)

- "Nobody locked the door?" Incompetent gangsters!

- Awwww, Ned getting awkwardly hugged! (It's double the power of last week's hugging machine!) I love the twins already. They seem like they could fill in on weeks when the aunts aren't there. And they do magic tricks!

- ...That was ominous. I guess now we know why Ned's dad leaves town every few years.

I've been reading the ratings thread at TWOP for this show, and now I'm resigning myself to waking up any day now to find the show's been canceled. :( God forbid people watch something that's actually good...
