I think it's a case of, "The ratings are low enough to kill it, but it's a critical darling so we're going to act like we're giving it another chance when really we just have a hole in our schedule and won't put any effort into saving it by moving it to a useful time slot."

WOES.

(Although perhaps ABC is pioneering the American use of the BBC-style thirteen-episode season? I could live with that.)

I could live with just about anything that let the show progress in an artful, thought-out manner. HEAR THAT, ABC??
