I've had papers like that. I get on a roll, and I write out an awesome first paragraph, then I... Hit a wall. A Big Freaking Wall O Stuckedness (making new words is fun). And then I spend several hours trying to type something, and up deleting it half the time I actually manage to write anything down, and going ARRRRRG a lot and trying not to throw my computer across the room.
In the end, even I wasn't sure where I was going and know for a *fact* that somewhere along the way I strayed far, faaar from the actual assignment (I even got a comment back from my peer review saying something like "You missed the target. By a bit of a lot", only more polite), but I turned it in anyway because OMG, BIG FREAKING WALL and still managed to get an A- on it. Yay for brand new classes that no one has taught before and vague writing assignments!
