Still freezing. But woodstoves and heat are good.
"The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond"
- Zack! Yay! (Zack with S1 hair! Bigger yay! Now he looks twenty again!) I have no problem with the "Zack is a killer" thing, because I saw it coming waaaaaay back when, but I do miss the little guy. And him dropping the bombshell of only being an accessory to the murder on Sweets is not only heartening (perhaps he'll get out and back to work one day?), but actually made Sweets vaguely relevant to the ongoing storyline and even somewhat interesting! Perhaps he'll go crazy from the secret weighing on him.
- Speaking of Sweets, I've determined why I hate him so much. (In addition to his chipmunk face, his obnoxious vocabulary, his annoying interruptions...) The procedural aspect used to be about science finding the answers, with Booth, Angela, or Cam there to provide insight into human emotions as necessary. (Here, even, it was Zack who actually noticed the pattern that led to the murderer.) Now it's devolved into a murky mess of psychological profiling, in addition to the oh-so lame B&B counseling sessions that I hate because their interaction on a case is much more interesting, as it is not spoonfed to us in little psychobabbly chunks. I have nothing against psychology and profiling as such, but...this is a show that is, in theory, centered on the mcguffin of forensic anthropology, which was so much more interesting to me.
- Brennan, would it kill you not to say "you'll never measure up to Zack" every five minutes?
- Heh. Poor, poor intern.
- Aw, Hodgins brings Zack math problems as treats!
- "King of the Looney Bin" :(
- Um, Sweets, the break up kind of was your fault, if you go back far enough in the chain of causality. I prefer to do this, as I hate you and want you to leave.
- BRENNAN JUST TASTED THE EVIDENCE. HER TRANSFORMATION INTO A CERTAIN MOUNTIE IS COMPLETE. *wonders if she will get a spiffy hat*
- Um, writers? Booth has said plenty about Brennan's books. I remember at least two separate conversations where he talked about the FBI agent being based on him. Please to be hiring a script supervisor, kthxbai.
"The Crank in the Shaft"
- Angela and Hodgins are two "professionals." Yeeeeah.
- Okay, I loved this week's intern. (And oh, please please please pick someone soon, because the rotation is getting old.) I especially enjoyed him with Hodgins and Cam. ("Take some Prozac!")
- Yay for reality! The gopher-heads popping up as news of the death flew around the office even when B&B were trying to keep it quiet is exactly what would happen at a real cubefarm.
- *snort* Aw, Brennan's so happy that she helped Angela with her personal problems.
- Er. Wouldn't Cam actually be the queen bee? She reminded Hodgins she was his boss often enough.
- Speaking of Hodgins, does he ever get to talk in Angela's presence anymore? She orchestrated the breakup, she told him how they were going to handle the aftermath...what are his feelings on it all?
- That's an "odd work environment"? Oh, Brennan. Please to be looking at your own environment. (Were they really more professional in S1, or did the unprofessionalism just not bother me as much? I feel like the TMI and/or relationship-troubles discussions were not as blatant and tended to take place more behind closed doors than while poking at bones and in front of interns before.)
