re: Brennan as a private school vs public school kid, I don't actually remember her saying she'd gone to private school, but the first explanation that came to mind when I read your comment is that her parents probably sent her to private school, then she ended up in public school when they disappeared and she became a foster kid. Given that she seems to have lived in quite a few homes, she's probably gone to quite a few schools.
