Wait, the Colony is one kilometer from the black hole, or the "parking spot" is one kilometer away from the Colony? Surely it's the latter.

Maybe the Colony is trapped in the Event Horizon ala the Andromeda Ascendant and has been frozen in time for three hundred years. Or something.
