A half-unit was equivalent to three credit-hours at normal institutions, so from there the math works out much the same. You had to have two units (four classes) per semester to be considered full-time, though most everyone took a bit more (I tended to do 2.25, with choir as a fourth of a unit). You needed sixteen units to graduate.
