More social practice tonight. We did salsa for the newbies, since Friday is our annual swing/salsa dance. (Well, okay. Last year it was just swing, but you get the idea.) Old girl members didn't really get to dance, since we had a decent amount of guys if we stayed out of it, so we did. It was good to brush up, though--I think I finally have the hips down! WHEEEE!!! Of course, salsa is the one Latin-esque dance where it's fast enough that all the effect of hip movement is lost unless you're really good, or so it seems to me. Augh. But at least I finally have it! Yay!
And of course, now I have the samba song (all I know is that it's in Spanish and "falda," or skirt, plays a large role in the lyrics, which are almost fast enough to be rappish) that Ksenia was using as a very slow salsa all night stuck in my head. Yes, we attempted samba to it. We all (sophomore members) categorically suck at samba. Definitely the most difficult Latin dance. Meep.
