We do. We so do. Sometimes I feel myself falling into that trap, and I have to give myself a mental slap, because I REFUSE to become like some of the students I see in places like Rate Your Students. (For the most part, my kids are fairly good about not making excuses when they screw up, but not taking responsibility...yeah we've had discussions about them needing to actually do the things laid out on the syllabus.)
I feel like there was less of it when I was in college, but then again, I was never in an intro comp class, so my experience could be skewed.
