They aren't quite that dark (it was dark in the museum, and using the flash on my camera makes things look darker than they are), but they aren't terribly shiny, either.
I managed to miss large chunks of pop culture throughout my childhood and adolescence, the prevailing theory for which is that I am not human. (Still haven't seen all the Star Wars movies, for instance--more because I thought the first one was uninteresting than any other reason--and only saw an Indiana Jones flick and a John Hughes movie for the first time this year.) Other evidence pointing to my alien origins is my complete dislike for The Princess Bride and pretty much everything the Beatles ever did. :D
They rotate stuff out?
Apparently they have rooms full of this kind of stuff, but only space for bits and pieces of it. They're working on making an entire wing for it, but I don't think it'll be finished for a few more years.
