I am super curious now to hear your thoughts on the various Star Treks, which fit the ensemble cast criterion and sometimes fit the community criterion (not so much TOS and TNG, which imo had their communities created offscreen, but DS9 and VOY with their integration-of-disparate-groups themes fit). Star Trek is not very magically realistic, though, in any iteration.
