I love Delenn in this episode. LOVE. The way she says, "Screw tradition, screw ceremony, we're going back and you're coming with us" - is just great.
does anyone actually believe Sheridan stands a chance of opposing her in any way? I mean, really. And yet she sometimes gets shunted into the girlfriend role--granted, I think she kind of prefers it because she likes being the power behind the throne, pulling Sheridan's puppet strings
I have a theory, and because you've given this setup, this is as good a place as any to put it. The Sheridan/Delenn relationship is not all that different from your standard old-fashioned "the male as the head of the household" set-up. And I think sometimes JMS felt this way and I think we see it come through, very thinly veiled, in the way he writes about male/female relationships. (WHY did Lochley have to be Sheridan's ex-wife? She could have known him from a bunch of other more believable places. But no. Wife. Blergh.)
Sheridan and Delenn always make me think of this quote from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding":
The man is the head. But the woman is the neck, and she can turn the head ANY WAY SHE WANTS.
This is not the first time, and it won't be the last, that I think - yep, there goes Delenn, being Sheridan's neck.
