To not get too spoilery, but yes, here pretty quick it starts to move away from that formula. The show starts delving into its mytharc quite a bit more. I was watching S1 enjoying it but not going crazy about it or anything; it's about the last 6-8 episodes of the season that the show really starts to gel and figure out what it wants to do, and aside from a couple early S2 episodes that weren't fantastic (not bad, just not fantastic), it's pretty much off to the races after that.

God, I remember watching VR.5 when it was on, but have absolutely no memories of it at all.
