Not on, local ABC affiliate. Football taking over the channel from 7 to 10, including Castle's usual time slot? Really? I'm surprised ABC actually let you preempt its Dancing with the Stars cash cow.

Hopefully this is not a regular occurrence.

(Oh, how spoiled I've become by living somewhere with a TV again...)

I am pretty sure X-Files was preempted at least twice a season for local sports and what-all when I was a teenager, and I think I actually got around to digging out a phonebook to look up the FOX affiliate's number. (I didn't actually call, though; pussied out!)

Shows getting cut off so local weather can go on and on about the OMG!thunderstorms? Bane of my existence during May sweeps.

When Castle came back this season, I caught the last five minutes or so of DWS, and realized that with two exceptions (Bristol Palin and "The Situation," whom I had never heard of but figured had to be a celeb), I could not actually tell who was the pro dancer and who was the celebrity. I've been without regular access to a TV for six of the last eight years, so I'd forgotten what a pain preemptions are.

But at least now we can watch the shows online a day late rather than MISSING THEM ENTIRELY, oh yes, FOX, I remember you shafting XF for the World Series or whatever it was. Weather is the worst, because so much of the episode is still tantalizingly there, just, you know, not that crucial scene in the middle, so you try to watch the rest anyway and you're pissed because it's not making sense due to the missing scene that was probably awesome and ARGH ARGH ARGH.

Okay, it's sad that this is one of those things I remember, but XF was SUPER IMPORTANT TO ME. I had to go to a school function so I put my VCR on timer and everything, and came home to discover that literally half the episode - not the first half or the second half, but just 22 random minutes here and there - had been preempted with weather coverage. Of a storm that was actually outside the KC metro area - it was like way the fuck over near St. Louis or something. And this of course was when your next shot of watching it was when it reran that summer. For some reason the fact that I didn't discover this live but while watching my tape made it even worse - like it was bad enough that I had to wait till the next day, but then the news kept cutting in and it had already happened. IDEK.

GOD. I think I may have actually cried. I was probably 15 or something, LOL.

Strangely enough, all these preemptions are why I started watching sports. Everything would get preempted for football playoffs and I was like "WELL FINE I'LL WATCH THIS... oh, this is kind of fun."

I think this was a home game, so it would've been on at 7 no matter what time zone Nashville was in? Not sure. It was Nashville vs. Jacksonville, which I think is some kind of big rivalry. Maybe. It would make more sense for whatever Atlanta's team is to be Nashville's rival, since we compare ourselves to Atlanta in every other way, but I think it might be Jacksonville. Anyway, no way this thing wasn't airing in prime time, it looked like. BOOOO.

Not sure how strict Monday Night Football is as far as air time, but I've noticed that all of the Sunday football games seem to start at the same time they would back home - as in, 12:00 pm CST, which is 10:00 am PST. Also, Prime Time starts at 8 out here, not 7, so Castle isn't even on until 10 pm. Kind of stinks in that I lose a hour of sleep if I try and watch it as it airs (I have to be up by 5:15, so I'm usually in bed by 10), but less chance of it being preempted for silly things like sports. :D

Another bonus - I get new Ghost Hunter/Eureka/White Collar/etc episodes at 6 pm, and they show the repeat at 8. :)

Oh, poor icepixie. Since Monday Night Football is on ESPN (and therefore cable), in the home market, they have to broadcast it on a local channel (I think it's actually a legal issue or something). It's just your bad luck that they had it on ABC. In Chicago it's always one of the weird stations that compromise the CW (Or whatever it is now). And it's the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. Yes, my father watches a lot of football, why do you ask?
