"What, this episode is about extraterrestrial asparagus?? Who even cares! There are Significant Glances being exchanged!"
I know that's how I watch half the shows I like!
I wonder if their world started out a little bit eviller, or if it was all a result of Peter's kidnapping and the ensuing chaos? They've had about a quarter-century to get seriously twisted over there...
It's really hard to tell. They didn't have 9/11 and no one shot JFK, which might put them on the "nicer" end of the scale, but "North Texas" also appears to be a separate country with serious problems (ripple effect from a Civil War that ended differently?). I think I'd put my money on the chaos caused by the kidnapping, though.
Did something like that happen? I remember getting more and more frustrated with that series, but apparently I blocked out the details.
Apparently! I also read the whole thing and don't remember anything after the first book, but someone mentioned it in comparison with this show and I looked the last book up on Wikipedia. Will and Lyra were trapped on separate worlds forever and ever at the end.
Too bad we didn't get to see his happy dance when he first figured out about Peter and Fauxlivia being together. Maybe we'll get a better one when Peter and Ourlivia finally work out all their issues?
