Fringe: "Amber 31422"

Although I'm not a huge fan of Fringe's Monster of the Week episodes (XF did them so much better), I really like that they're doing them in the AU, because we learn more about how that universe works. Amber is a fascinating, horrifying concept, and I'm glad we got more details about it.

Also glad that...Ourlivia is back? It sure looked like everything, or at least most things, clicked into place for her when she talked to Ella on our side? And she knew enough to lie to Walternate, who apparently saw right through her. I do kind of like how bouncy Ourlivia-as-Fauxlivia is, but I prefer original flavor, especially since we have Fauxlivia in our universe. But Scarlie and Lincoln Lee are wonderful, and I kind of wish she could take them with her when she inevitably crosses back over. That moment where Linc and Olivia gave Scarlie a big scarcastic "awwww" when he mentioned buying cigarettes for his mother was adorable. Though then again, things worked better in S2 without Charlie, much as I loved him; Peter would be superfluous again if they came along.

Still very much appreciating that Peter is Ourlivia's way of reasserting her own personality.

Er, didn't Ourlivia say Ella was seven when she was in Fauxlivia's apartment last season? And wasn't she four in S1? Why is she turning seven this week? And why do she and Rachel now live in Chicago? Granted, Olivia's family is the least interesting part of the show for me, but the details matter!

You caught up! I have been LOOOOOOVING S3 so far. I've read some grousing about going back and forth each episode, but I'm really enjoying it.

I want both Olivias to stay. But I know that won't happen. :(

I was so tickled by the idea of Cary Grant in The Maltese Falcon - I adore the Other Side just for little things like that.

I'm enjoying the back-and-forth for now, but I think if it continues past the end of this month, I'll start to get impatient. I get the feeling that Ourlivia is going to come damn close to getting back to her side next time we're in the AU, though.

I've never seen The Maltese Falcon, so I completely missed the reference. (Although from the way it was said, I did get the impression it was supposed to indicate a difference in the universes.)

I think if it continues past the end of this month, I'll start to get impatient.

My guess? Sweeps. They'll have it sorted by December, unless that's their big mid-season cliffhanger (as in, Two Olivias In One Place, Oh Noes!).

I'm thinking the same thing. Perhaps this coming week in our universe, things will go on like they've been going (perhaps with more info on the Doomsday Device), but at the very end, something will happen to indicate that Olivia's trying to push through. Then the week after will have her working to cross over, Walternate working to stop her, and it'll all be very cliffhangery. The week after...is Thanksgiving, so I guess they won't have an episode, but the week after that, I bet Ourlivia will be back in her home universe, and Very Bad Things will be on her heels.

My big WTF? I'm trying to figure out in which universe someone can pick up a phone in an unattended NYC gift shop and dial long distance...

(And seriously, I was in the Statue of Liberty gift shop in January, the nadir of tourist season, and it was still crowded. No way was there just that one kid and his mom.)

I love how you can almost immediately tell which Olivia or Walter is which, just from their body language. Such good acting.

I too am sad that Scarlie will probably not be with us for long. But there's not quite room for him, alas. Surely they won't actively kill him off again, right? Right??
I hope he gets to ride off into the sunset this time.
