icepixie: ([Fringe] Olivia Peter dancing stars)

Hmmm. I find myself conflicted. On the one hand...yes, it did end with them apart, and that does kind of suck, especially if they go on apart indefinitely. (Though with the move to Fridays, I wonder if the producers have seen the writing on the wall and will tie up loose ends such as this in time for the season/series finale.)

On the other hand, this doesn't feel like throwing obstacles in their way for the sake of throwing obstacles in their way like it has on other shows. It feels much more like it came as a consequence of the larger plot. Whereas on, say, Castle, we've currently got the Revolving Significant Other Merry-Go-Round, where they don't even try to hide the fact that the boyfriend/girlfriend are there purely to keep Castle and Beckett apart. Thus I am much, much more disposed to like it. I also tend to think that it will work out a lot more quickly than on a show that's really trying to stretch the UST; not only because of the impending cancellation, but because of what Astrid said tonight about Peter thinking he was with the real Olivia, still having feelings for her, etc. (I was a little arghy about Astrid being forced to play Yenta, but I also think it's a sign.)

I might be too optimistic. But I've been pleasantly surprised by most things on the show since the middle of S1, so I feel justifiably so. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)
