Someone please tell me that when the Observer said, "It must be hard to be a father," I was not the only one to jump to the conclusion that Fauxlivia got pregnant when she was sleeping with Peter. And then to promptly go, "Oh, shiiiiiiiiit."

I think he was probably talking about Walter and Roscoe there, but that was a terrifying moment. And it could still be true, oh dear god.

Anyway, speaking of fathers, we saw Walter and Peter being sweet together at the end (awww!), which can only mean pain in the near future. You know, if the two Observers saying outright that Walter was going to have to sacrifice Peter didn't tip you off.

I'm a little confused by the whole universe-out-of-balance thing. If the Observers truly don't know which future will come to pass (which is also a little odd, seeing as the show appears to come down on the side of "every decision creates a new universe," so technically all the possible futures come to pass), then how do they know things are out of balance? Is there a plan they're following? If so, doesn't that negate the fact that the future can get out of balance in the first place?

(Why does every text ever come down to free will vs. predestination for me?)

Anyway, in the shallow end, ohgod, Peter, your HAIR. WHAT is with that Elvis/Travolta pompadour thing in front? I think I actually saw it bounce. YOUR HAIR SHOULD NOT BOUNCE, PETER.

Slightly less shallow: Olivia and Peter still make my heart ache. :( Especially when they were all, "Awww, the old couple is still together after all these years, isn't that sweet," and then looking all guilty and sad at each other. Ohhhh, poor babies.

I was right there with you! Mentioned it to my sister on the way home and she shrieked "OMG, I hadn't even THOUGHT of it that way!" So...yeah, holy shit. :D

And yes, Peter & Olivia are KILLING ME. Why is this show so AWESOME?!

Watching the episode right now, had to click on the cut because I couldn't stand not knowing if Peter died in the end or not.

Finally watched this episode - long story short, I, um, completely forgot it was on last night. This is why I hate when shows move around. I have a hard enough time keeping track of everything as it is. It doesn't help that I haven't had a Friday show in about four years.

Anywho, really good episode. Hadn't even thought that The Observer might be referring to Peter possibly being a father. Urg. No. DNW.

Like...I think that Walter coming to a place where he can sacrifice Peter is an absolutely necessary thing to have happen. In many respects, it's the only way his character arc could culminate. Now, I do not think in any way that this means that Peter would actually be killed off - shows just don't actually do that - but I do think we'll see Walter make that choice, and that he will think that Peter has died. In fact, that's now my call for the season (I hope season and not series) finale.

Gah! That didn't occur to me! I assumed that the Observer was thinking, as he was about to shoot Peter (who he's probably gotten a bit attached to, what with all the Observing), that it would be infinitely harder for Walter to injure Peter. But yes, thank you for the soap opera angle. : )

which can only mean pain in the near future.

Um, yeah, this whole Oppenheimer/Abraham-n-Isaac vibe is... unsettling.

YOUR HAIR SHOULD NOT BOUNCE, PETER.

lol, I was blissfully ignorant of that. Now you'll have me watching for it...

Olivia and Peter still make my heart ache.

arrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhh
