As far as Alexis goes, Castle trusts her to be a good kid in the end. She is rebelling like any teenager will. It's just natural.
Dunno...the episode itself didn't convince me that it was in any way a kind of natural rebellion that should be left to run its course. It looked more like Alexis was being a doormat and Castle wasn't doing anything to help her stand up for herself. I can't think of any parent I know who wouldn't try to stop their sixteen/seventeen-year-old from associating with these friends, or at the very least attempt to get some names/call parents/etc.
