But as Castle points out, it wasn't the right thing--the kids who stole should've paid, not Alexis. She did a nice thing, but not the right thing. And if she doesn't want to fall into a pattern of getting taken advantage of, she might want to stop doing that. I just found it hard to believe that even Castle--maybe especially Castle, who probably has had people try to take advantage of his wealth--wouldn't push harder against that. Whether he trusts her not to shoplift is immaterial; it's the way she's not standing up for herself or trying to distance herself from these other kids that would bother me. This just seems like another situation of the type last season, where Alexis called to say that Paige had drunk too much and Castle took over, insisting her parents be called, an ambulance, etc.--not really a place for such hands-off parenting, in other words, but rather one for some life lessons.
